In 2 Samuel 4:1-12, two servants kill Ish-Bosheth while sleeping. Killed due to cruelty and treachery. The two servants expected fulfillment from David for their actions. Instead of rewarding, David puts them to death.  Having contempt for their actions. These men sought false fulfillment.

Choices

Fast forward to 2 Samuel 11:1-27, David is burning with sinful lust. God leaves David to make his own choices on fulfillment. Choice of false or true fulfillment.  David chooses false fulfillment.  False fulfillment leads to bad choices. David commits adultery with Bathsheba (Uriah’s wife) that results in conception of a child. David’s one choice causes him to spiral out of control.  Continuing with a serious of bad choices.  He seeks to cover up his behavior by tricking Uriah to sleep with his wife to falsely belief he had conceived the child.  His scheme fails. Provoking David to make yet another detrimental decision. The choice to kill Uriah. A pattern of bad choices.

Temptation

David is the king. Entrusted with the sword of justice and the execution of the law. He violates the very laws he is to uphold. Violates because of temptation that yields false fulfillment. Temptation is a powerful motivator. Influences one to serve flesh instead of spirit. Temptation is selfish gratification, entitlement and an unquenchable thirst. This type of thirst is not for God but against God.

What is false fulfillment?

It is a deceptive or misleading sense of achievement.  It is shallow and not genuinely satisfying. Influencing the pursuit of goals that lack purpose. Pursuing short-term rewards. Making decisions in attempts to cover up bad behavior. It is a domino effect that spirals you out of control pursuing short-term rewards with insignificant value.

What is true fulfillment?

True fulfillment is aligning actions and choices with core values, passions, and a sense of purpose. It is a deeper, more enduring sense of satisfaction and contentment. Not the temporary or illusory feelings associated with false fulfillment. The outcomes of true fulfillment transcends and escalates. Enabling you to reach new heights of significance and impact.

It is easy to fall into the trap of false fulfillment. It relies on the deceptive allure of temptation. Yielding regrets and bad choices. Pursue true fulfillment. True fulfillment yields results that will not fade. Results multiply. Transporting you to high levels of living and achievement in your life.
